Annual Omani Quantity Surveyors’ Gathering is a place where you can reach more opportunities and a room to be aware about the floating challenges in the construction industry. To overcome these challenges, it is a mandatory requirement for Quantity Surveyor Professionals in the industry to attend the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs.
We are proudly announcing and commencing the third largest Omani QS gathering on 09 May 2018 at Hormuz Grand and expecting over 200 delegates for this valuable CPD event.
This CPD event has been organized & will be conducted by well qualified & experienced Quantity Surveyor Professionals in the construction industry;
In 2016 & 2017 Omani Quantity Surveyors gathering was lunched with the intent of providing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to those local Omani nationals who are working in the Quantity Surveyor professions in the construction industry .
Creating and establishing support for Omani Quantity Surveyor professionals in Oman and provide them a rich opportunity to network with like-minded individuals.
Promote Quantity Surveying as a profession in Oman and introduce it as a wise career choice.
For two years in a row, Omani Association of Quantity Surveyors (under establishment) has successfully conducted the Omani QS gathering with hundreds of Omani QS in attendance.
Becoming an important event where people from the industry come together, we are relaunching this important event on 09 May 2018 with the main purpose of giving back to the community and supporting the growing number of Omani Quantity Surveyors in the Sultanate.
This year’s event also focuses more on supporting the High Minister’s goal in boosting the working rate of the Omani QS professionals by finding a company who will recruit fresh Omani QS graduates.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your participation and support of last year’s event. Every year we plan to continue this event to strengthen and promote the QS profession all over the country.

The proprietor of DRSAM FZE, c Professor Indrawansa Samaratunga (“Prof. Sam”), is an arbitrator registered with London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA)and Dubai International Arbitration Center (DIAC). DRSAM FZE also arranges acceptance of arbitrator nominations / appointments of Prof. Sam for dispute resolutions by either LCIA / DIAC or adhoc.
Prof. Sam’s services are also available for adjudicator appointments especially for Dispute Adjudication Boards under FIDIC contracts.
Taner Dedezade is a barrister, with some 20 years’ experience, specialising in Alternative Dispute Resolution proceedings concerning international construction and engineering projects mostly under the FIDIC Red, Yellow and Silver Books. He represents both international contractors and employers involved in projects in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, undertaking advocacy as necessary in both DAB and arbitration proceedings.
Taner’s expertise has been recognised with his ranking as an ‘up and coming’ lawyer in Chambers UK 2016 – Construction: International Arbitration UK-wide with clients saying he “has the ability to link the FIDIC to the legal context of different countries. He is a qualified barrister and advises a range of clients in arbitrations across the world.”
He has developed a particular expertise in the enforcement of DAB decisions having acted as sole counsel in arbitration proceedings concerning the same and having written various articles on this complex subject. Taner’s article, “Mind the gap: Analysis of cases and principles concerning the ability of ICC tribunals to enforce binding DAB decisions under the 1999 FIDIC Conditions of contract  Int ALR 145”, was cited favourably by Mr Justice Edwards-Stuart in Peterborough City Council v Enterprise Managed Services Limited  EWHC 3193 (TCC).

After reading law, he was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1996 and practised as a barrister for just over 10 years, appearing in numerous cases in the courts and tribunals of England and Wales including the Court of Appeal. He was appointed to one of the UK Government’s Treasury Counsel Panels.
Taner has an MSc (Merit) in Construction Law and Arbitration from King’s College, London (in which he was awarded the Bickerdike Allen prize), and a diploma (Merit) in International Commercial Arbitration from Queen Mary College, London (achieving a distinction in his dissertation). He now lectures particularly on FIDIC DABs, acts as a tutor and dissertation supervisor on the King’s MSc course.
Taner is an expert in FIDIC contracts and a published author in the field of International Construction and Arbitration Law. Taner is a FIDIC accredited trainer and has presented, on behalf of Cornerstone Seminars, many FIDIC Contracts and Claims seminars in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and South America.
